Since its inception in 1983, Ballet NJ Theater Company of New Jersey (BNJ) has provided children from the tri-state area with the opportunity  to develop as dancers and perform in professional quality full length ballets. In its thirty-one season, Ballet NJ stages its magical production of The Nutcracker, featuring over 100 cast members. Principal dancers from the Pennsylvania Ballet and guest artists provide an extraordinary experience for young dancers. The Ballet NJ repertoire includes such classics as The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake and their critically acclaimed production of La Bayadere, as well as original productions of The Adventure of Dorothy, Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella and Coppèlia.

The productions at the Vorhees Schools Theatre have drawn thousands in critically acclaimed performances.  Many school age children have been introduced to the magic and music of ballet. Many have gone onto dance professionally after their experience with Ballet NJ.

Ballet NJ is fortunate to have David Gallagher as Artistic Director/Resident Choreographer since 1987. Mr. Gallagher was a full time faculty member at the Rock School of the Pennsylvania Ballet for six years. He danced professionally with the Santa Barbara Ballet, Valerie Houston Dance Theatre, and the San Diego Ballet. In 1990, he founded the Academy of Ballet, the official school of Ballet Nj in West Berlin, NJ.

Ballet students throughout southern NJ are encouraged to participate in Ballet NJ. Auditions are held semi-annually and are open to all interested male and female ballet students. For audition  rehearsal schedule information please contact us.

Since its inception, Ballet NJ has rasied 95% of its operating budget internally through ticket sales, fund raisers, boutique sales, Ballet NJ society membership dues, and corporate donations.

As the curtain rises on the thirty first season of Ballet NJ, the company would like to thank you for all your support. The steady stream of children at our auditions and the returning dancers year after year remind us of our mission to provide young dancers and audiences alike with the very best experience in the performing arts. With your support, the magic, the music, and the memories will continue for many years to come.
